“Baii Ga” is a delightful Marathi comedy that I thoroughly enjoyed. Directed by Pandurang Jadhav and Ashish Agarwal, the film revolves around Dhanush, played by Swapnil Joshi, who is estranged from his wife, Aboli, in England. Facing marital troubles, Dhanush turns to God for help and is tasked with making amends with his ill-treated wives from past lives. This leads to a series of hilarious and heartwarming encounters as these wives start arriving one after the other.
The performances in “Baii Ga” are top-notch. Swapnil Joshi brings a charming confusion to Dhanush, reminiscent of yesteryear Govinda. Sagar Karande’s comedic genius shines through, leaving the audience in splits. Sukanya Kulkarni and Deepti Devi also deliver incredible performances that leave a lasting impact. The film is set in modern-day England, and the beautiful outdoor shots, along with catchy songs, add to its charm.
While the premise requires some suspension of disbelief, the film’s entertainment value more than makes up for it. The gags involving Dhanush’s lies are particularly funny, especially after the intermission. “Baii Ga” doesn’t aim to be a socially conscious film; it’s pure entertainment that balances humor, emotion, and spirituality. If you’re looking for a feel-good Marathi comedy, “Baii Ga” is definitely worth a watch!
