Day 9 was a Sunday. On Sundays my gym is closed so I swim for exercise. I did around 1200m in around 60 minutes. This includes filming my swim. I tried to do more distance but my friend Apurva who was supposed to show up today to film my workout was absent and that slowed me down a bit. He had a cold and I guess its best if he stayed out of the water. I came home and showered and soon was sent away on a mission to get groceries. The elevator is still not in working order. The issue is with the license. Its ready to operate but the license from the authorities isn’t in yet so we can’t use it for the sake of safety.
After getting groceries I was doing some work in the afternoon like taking a nap and watching s6 of 24 when I felt like doing my second workout. I did not want to go out again so I did some stretching instead. I caught up on my gallon of water by the time I had started my second workout.
I have been reading up on How bad do you want it? by Matt Fitzgerald. I am no athlete but I think as a normal person there is a lot to learn from this book. The focus is to train the mind in order to push the body to achieve the goal. He has provided several examples but the one lesson he gives which has resonated with me so far is that we need to brace for impact. Meaning if we have a goal to achieve there is going to be pain and we should expect it to hurt. There is no way around it and the only way to deal with it is to tolerate it and build that tolerance up to a point where the pain is insignificant. That was the gist of the reading so far. I have more to read but just thought I’d mention it. Day 9 was a success.
