Avoiding Obstacles in Front of Your House: Vastu Tips

Vastushastra, the ancient Indian science of architecture and design, emphasizes the harmonious alignment of our living spaces with natural forces. One critical aspect of Vastu is ensuring that the front of your house remains free from specific obstacles. These obstacles, known as Vedh, can disrupt the flow of positive energy and create negative vibrations. Let’s delve into the seven types of Vedh and how to avoid them. Let’s explore these Vastu principles and how they can enhance your living environment.

1. Haarvedh (Obstruction at the Main Entrance)

  • Issue: If there’s a large tree, water tank, well, or hand pump directly in front of your house, it can bring negative energy.
  • Solution: Remove these obstacles to allow positive energy to flow freely. Also, avoid placing pet animals’ feeding bowls near the front door.

2. Margvedh (Road Obstruction)

  • Issue: A road directly facing your house or intersecting roads nearby are considered inauspicious.
  • Solution: If possible, choose a house without roads leading directly to it. Twisting and turning roads leading to your home are also unfavorable.
  • Other obstacles, such as flour-mills, blacksmith shops, laundries, and cemeteries, should also be avoided in front of your house.

3. Chidravedh (Holes and Openings)

  • Issue: Big or small holes at the back of the house can create fear and increase criminal tendencies.
  • Solution: Seal any unnecessary holes or openings to maintain security and positive energy.

4. Chitravedh (Inappropriate Images)

  • Issue: Violent or frightening images, especially those of wild predators, disrupt the harmonious energy within the house.
  • Solution: Choose uplifting and serene artwork for your home.

5. Samavedh (Imbalanced Floors)

  • Issue: In a multi-storied house, unevenly proportioned floors can lead to imbalance and lack of peace.
  • Solution: Ensure that all floors are proportionate to maintain equilibrium.

6. Garbhevdh (Divided Entrance)

  • Issue: Dividing the main entrance with a wall creates financial troubles.
  • Solution: Keep the entrance open and unobstructed.

7. Dhwajsvedh (Flag Shadow)

  • Issue: If the shadow of a flag from a nearby temple falls on your house, it can cause illnesses.
  • Solution: Ensure that the temple is at least twice the height of your main entrance away from your house.

By adhering to these Vastu principles, you can create a positive and harmonious living environment. Remember that even small adjustments can significantly impact the energy within your home. So, remove obstacles, maintain balance, and invite prosperity and well-being into your life.

While Vaastu Shastra is technically referring to the science of architecture, its current practice often strays into pseudoscience and superstition. Articles on this platform serve as a lens into Hindu culture and living, but they don’t validate unscientific methods. Approach them with critical discernment.
