Pretty normal day today. Had a great workout at the gym. Trained back and biceps. Now that I have a system to manage the time I am refining the exercises to reduce the time further.
I have been working on flexibility lately and I discovered that compression is a big part of it. Initially when I started doing Yoga I had learnt that breathing through the pelvis floor was required for several of the poses.
Now that I am working on stretching and lengthening my leg muscles I have realised that compression works by breathing through the pelvic floor. I hadn’t quite grasped the concept before but when you compress your inner pelvis and core you gain superior control when doing stretches. Essentially you gain control of your psoas muscles. The psoas muscles hold a lot of tension and respond to emotions readily. When you breathe through the pelvic floor they release the tension. My understanding is that deep breathing helps relieve stress in the body because of this mechanism. Today when I was bending down to touch my toes I went further by two inches than I usually do simply by clenching my inner core. Its an acquired skill and needs a little bit of practice but it is easy to learn and brings about some real changes to movement.

Lunch was Dal Khichdi, Papdi Beans aka Valor beans and Scrambled Eggs Indian Style. I was very hungry today after my workout. It was a heavy workout because I pushed my limits today. I don’t go heavy unless I feel confident but today I just went for it. Worked all afternoon. Went for a walk in the evening. Day 49 was a success!
