How does your mindset affect your financial success?
If I wasn’t putting my focus into it I wouldn’t be successful. I am not much of a saver but I do invest my money whenever I get a chance.
I strictly believe in owning safe assets. I invest in bonds and gold. I also invest in GICs or FDs as they are called in India. Those are secure and guarantee returns. If given the opportunity I would invest in properties but right now the rates of property are soaring so the next best thing is nothing. I have invested some money in Recurring Deposits or RDs which the Indian postal service provides. These require regular payments and provide a compounded return on investment. The home I live in is fully paid for by my father so I don’t have to pay rent although there is a monthly maintenance fee.
First thing I did after covid was to go completely debt free. I don’t use credit cards, I don’t have any pending loans. I had to work to clear my dad’s debts and that took a lot of effort. Being debt free is the first step to growing money in my opinion.
I am insured so the future is secure.
My vehicle is insured until next year at which point I intend to purchase a new one. I won’t sell Baby-my scooter- because she was a gift from my dad but its time to upgrade to something else. Once a year there is a servicing fee but its a Honda so that expense can be pushed to two years because of the vehicle’s reliability.
The only reason I save money is to spend on frivolous items like headphones and other electronics. Its liquid money available for spending on daily needs. I am a strong believer of using cash, we have UPI now but I still like cash.
Money growing slow is better than having no money at all. Saving is liquid money for later. Being debt free is an obligation. Insure yourselves first. Invest what you can. Be satisfied with what you have to use that to grow your wealth. Cash is King.
P.S- Invest in your health because health is wealth.
