What’s the kindest thing someone has ever done for you?
There was this one time I had paid off all my bills and I had just enough money to get groceries for the month but then the bank charged me money for whatever monthly charges they had and I had no money left. I wasn’t earning a lot since I was in college and I was working part-time. I didn’t tell anyone but I was going to run out of supplies in a few days and I would have to live on hot dogs until the next paychecque. I asked my boss for overtime. She was kind enough to give me the hours. The store we worked at shut down soon after and I was lucky to get paid on time and buy groceries. Now I had a new dilemna, I was out of work with bills piling up.
My boss Natalie called me out of nowhere and she asked me if I needed a job I said yes and she called me for an interview. At the interview she said I already had the job and the interview was just a formality. She needed someone she could trust to set up the store and I wanted to learn how to set up a fast food business.
If you live in Toronto you might be familiar with Mad Radish. I worked with my boss at blBlloor and Yonge and at Yonge and Eglinton, this location was bigger. I was truly grateful for the opportunity to work there.
My boss helped me out when I was in a pinch and she has always looked out for me. She had to leave the job soon because she was going to manage another store and that store was way out of my area so I couldn’t follow her there. The new boss Nick was also just as good if not better. He was extremely efficient and fair and made sure I got the hours I needed.
The rest of the staff that worked there was also very kind and I loved to work with them. We never let the food go to waste and made sure it went to the right people. I won’t ever forget them. I had to eventually quit that job for personal reasons. I am still in touch with some of them now years later. I have not reconnected with any of my bosses since then. I will never forget the kindness of the people that looked out for me and the friends that I made along the way.

Let’s hear it!
