A Delicious Vegetarian Feast at Shubh Sagar Restaurant

Yesterday, we decided to break our 16-hour fast with a hearty vegetarian meal at Shubh Sagar Restaurant in New Panvel, near DMart. It was Shravan month, and we were craving some good vegetarian food. After a long morning, we were ready for a feast.

Beautiful decor.

As we reached the entrance, the doorman greeted us warmly and let us in. There are both indoor and outdoor seating options. The restaurant was pretty much empty, so we got to sit in our usual spot inside. The manager came by and asked us for drinks. We ordered a Lassi and a Chaas to start with.

Guess whether this is Lassi or Chaas. Let us know in the comments.

For the main course, we went for the paper masala dosa. For those who don’t know, a paper masala dosa is called that because it’s literally as big as a newspaper. It’s served on a tray instead of a plate, with two large bowls of sambar and chutney, and a massive bowl of masala, which is the potato filling used in masala dosa.

The Paper Masala Dosa covered half the table.

Feeling like that wasn’t enough, we also ordered the veg cauliflower crispy and the special Shubh Sagar fried rice. The veg cauliflower crispy(cover picture) was incredibly delicious and, as the name suggests, crispy. It had all the Indo-Chinese Hakka flavors one enjoys during a meal, and you don’t miss meat while eating it.

Veg Manchurian Balls Gravy

The Shubh Sagar special fried rice comes in two parts: half of it is yellow and the other half is red. The yellow half is mild but flavorful and comes with chunks of paneer. The red half, which gets its color from Schezwan sauce, is more garlicky and also comes with paneer. Both types of rice were delicious, and we loved the meal.

And then to go along with the fried rice we had ordered the Manchurian balls with Gravy and let me tell you these balls will melt in your mouth. They are incredibly juicy and garlicky and flavourful. The gravy paired well with the fried rice and the entire meal was incredible.

By the time we left, we were so full that we could barely walk. It was a delicious meal, and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
