Woke up early despite sleeping late last night. My buddy Apoorva called me at 9 in the evening when I was going to sleep and said that it was his nephew’s first birthday and that I should attend the party. I went there reluctantly because I wasn’t prepared for it but luckily the gift stores were open so I got the kid a plushy. In my friend’s culture they hold a huge ceremony for the first birthday because that is when they also reveal the name of the baby. So for a full year they get to know the baby and get acquainted with the nuances before deciding on a name. I asked my friend what he called the baby for a full year until a name was decided? He said he calls him Chunnu. I understood when I saw the baby. He was cute and had a head full of jet black hair like a hero from a 70s movie and he wore a full suit (babies in full suits look hilarious). Honestly holding a big ceremony like this is more for the parents than the kid. The kid barely knew what was going on and simply did what babies do- act nonchalantly. it was a fun experience nonetheless because the food was bomb! They had Biryani, Raita and Cake. I also learned some new things from a different culture. The boys sat down to drink after the party but I headed home because I don’t drink when I drive and also it was a weekday and I had to go to the gym today.
At the gym I trained legs today and came home. Since I was sleepy and needed to work I made coffee. I picked a technique out of one of those viral reel videos. I have been looking at that technique for a decade now and having worked briefly as a barista I know how to brew coffee well and this isn’t something we did back then but I was curious if it really worked. Went for a walk in the evening. Day 153 was a success!
