What’s the most annoying trope in books or movies?
When the plot requires an unecessary sacrifice. The hero’s best friend seemingly sacrifices himself so the hero can escape the imminent destruction or move on with purpose. I have seen good uses of this trope but its overused and its not always good. It feeds into my predictive mindset and makes me think I know what is going to happen next. Most times I am right. It takes the fun out of the movie. This is so overused it has a technical term called “Stuffed into the Fridge” or “Fridging” which sounds about right.
