The Cut begins…

The Cut begins…

I am back from my week long break and I feel refreshed! To be fair not working out for the first couple of days on my break made me feel irritated and I ended up rucking on the third day. By the fourth day I was swimming and rucking as well. I guess once the body gets used to movement you can’t actually stop the momentum. I was also eating a lot since I was on cheat mode the whole time! It is summer season and the amount of ice-cream I had was questionable to say the least. Also went out to eat so many different foods ranging from pizzas, burgers to thalis it was a great week!

Now that we are back to our routine for weight loss, more specifically cutting the fat and maintaining the muscle mass I have cut down to 1200 calories. I have cut out added sugar meaning I will eat fruits but there will be no sugar in my tea or any processed food in my belly until the cut is done. While focusing on whole foods, I have tried to keep the meals as balanced as possible with proper macros however I may not always meet my protein goals (its a matter of availability and convenience).

Next Thursday I have to attend a wedding (my friend Sagar is getting married) so I might have to adjust that meal according to the Cut but I make no promises because Indian wedding food is top tier ha! After that I do not foresee any events so I think it should be fine to continue with my usual diet.

The first day of the Cut has been great! I went to the gym and slowly rebooted my system. I did some ankle rehab considering it is going to take time to heal. I then did some light stretches to loosen up the body. Then I did some basic body weight exercises like pushups and body-weight squats. I also did some pullups and dips to activate the upper body muscles. A week long hiatus from the gym really shuts down everything. It feels like I have to restart a fire in the middle of a blizzard in Antarctica with my bare hands. After working out I headed home and my Baby’s (Red Honda Activa 125cc) tire gave out. Took it to the vulcanizer and got it fixed.

Lunch- Dal, Rice, Mixed Vegetables and Eggs

Headed home from there and had lunch- Eggs, Rice, Mixed Vegetables and Dal. The meal was simple and filling. I increased my fiber intake just to keep myself satiated. I also ate 5 eggs so I don’t feel hungry later on in the day. Dal and rice are going to take me through this Cut as I need the carbs for energy. I am still drinking a gallon of water a day because it is summer and it helps me keep full.

I will head out for my walk in the evening with my weighted vest. I went rucking yesterday in the morning and it was really hot so I was sweating profusely. A guy approached me asking what it was and he was happy to know that it provides resistance and cardio training simultaneously. I think I am the only guy in my entire town to own a weighted vest currently. I won’t be surprised if I start a trend because its convenient and people like to try new things that will save them money. Day 1 was a success!

Ooh 1200 calories a day. Will you be working out as hard as before?

Yeah I believe that is required to maintain the muscle mass but there are weekly refeeds where the calories go up so the body doesn’t think its in survival mode.

I am also on a 1200 calorie diet but I have been finishing the day with less calories than that. I have figured out the foods that have more volume for the amount of calories, making me feel full without overeating. I should probably push more towards 1200 calories, but I am about 152 cm tall so I don’t need as much as a taller person.

That’s the thing that is a double edged sword with my own fitness journey, I am doing a challenge right now with workouts, but after the challenge is over I have to keep working out to keep my progress. I have entered the “for life” challenge lol. Maybe I will learn to love working out, right now it feels like a chore!

I have gotten to the part where I have come to love working out. Partly because I journal about it. It helped me get out of a rut recently and the reward is confidence in physical form which is terrific to say the least.
