Day 57/75

Day 57/75

It was an unusual day today. My routine wasn’t different but I fasted today. It was Dutta Jayanthi (pronounced: duhth-thuh juhyuhntee) and it is widely observed in many Hindu households across the country. My mom is religious and she was going to fast and she she asked if I would be interested in fasting and I agreed. Fasting doesn’t mean you stay hungry throughout the day however. You get to eat but only certain foods are permitted during the fast like fruits and Sabudana (tapioca pearls [boba]). After taking my progress picture and finishing my workout at the gym I came home to a fasting meal which was Rajgira Laadu (Sweet Amaranth balls), peanut brittle and sabudana khichdi. Its light and not filling but it got me through the day.

I finished my reading task in the afternoon. The day was absolutely cold and the fasting did not help with it. I headed out for my walk in the evening but I did the bare minimum of 45 minutes because I was absolutely toast by the end of the day.

Looks like its County Fair Season

I was working all afternoon and starving by the end of my walk. When I came home I finished my gallon of water. I have never faced issues with fasting before but the cold and 75 hard made it challenging. The positive of the day is that my mother is happy I participated in the fast and she did not do it alone this year. Day 57 was a success.
