Day 18/75

Day 18/75

My day started with taking a progress picture and then a long 90 minute swim. I had some work commitments today so I had to rush into those tasks. At the pool I taught my friend Apurva’s nephew how to breathe while swimming freestyle. The kid is only 8 years old and is a natural swimmer and athlete.

When I came home I took a quick shower and finished my reading task. Then I had a light breakfast and got to work immediately. I continued to work until later in the afternoon and then had a light lunch. After lunch I got back to work and started making my way out for my walk.

Seven minutes into my walk I was held hostage by heavy downpour. I did not expect it to rain all of a sudden although there were signs of it throughout the day in the form of humidity.

After about 35 minutes I was able to walk again and sped through my route for an hour in the hopes that it does not dampen my plans of finishing my second workout. I finished my gallon of water upon getting home from my walk.

Today is the last day I will be eating as I am doing a full fast for the next four days. This means from Monday through Thursday until Friday evening I will not be eating anything. I will only consume water. This is something I found on the internet and thought that 75 Hard presents me with a unique opportunity for me to try this. In my culture fasting is quite common and in the past I have done 24 hour fasts regularly but this will be the longest I have ever fasted. I believe the theory is that it resets the body. Not only does it prepare the body but it also toughens the mind.

The key to going through the fast is to keep busy and 75 Hard presents a good structure to keep busy throughout the day. Besides the task at hand I also have work commitments which will keep me busy through the week. Its not daunting me to try this if anything I am looking forward to the challenge. I am craving pain, does that make me a masochist? Maybe, I won’t know until I get through it. Of course I will be updating you through the blog so you will know how it goes on a day to day basis.

I lost around 200 grams bringing the tally to 108.5 Kg. I will update any weight changes over the four days as well. Day 18 was a success.
