If you ever find yourself cruising down the Mumbai-Goa highway, make sure to take a pit stop at Shree Datta Snacks Corner near Palaspe in Panvel. This gem of a place, which started as a humble highway-side snack stall in 1981, has now evolved into a well-established spot with all the amenities you could ask for.

Our Experience

At Shree Datta, you order and pay for your food upfront. We decided to try a variety of snacks: matar (peas) pattice, samosa, vada pav, kokam sarbat, and the mixed bhaji plate. The prices are very reasonable, and the quality of the food is impressive.

• Matar Pattice: This was a revelation! Soft on the inside and crispy on the outside, the savory flavors combined with the textures of the peas made for a delightful bite.

• Samosa: Made in an old-school way with very few spices, the taste took us back in time when flavor was the focus rather than heat.

• Vada Pav: Slightly spicy due to the green chili but not overpowering. The exterior was thin and crispy, just as it should be. The in-house red garlic chutney was a fantastic condiment.

• Mixed Bhaji Plate: A great combination of onion, potato, and spinach bhajis, served with sweet chutney and coconut chutney. Fresh, crispy, and delicious, the sauces complemented the bhajis perfectly.

• Kokam Sarbat (Sherbet): Made from bottled kokam syrup, it was a refreshing highway drink, perfect for a quick refreshment.

Overall, the snacks at Shree Datta lived up to the hype created by our friends. Our experience was thoroughly enjoyable, and we left with satisfied taste buds and happy hearts.
